An A60 stock train waits in the bay platform at Chalfont & Latimer before forming the service to Chesham in December 1975. This was before the graffiti "artists" had started to attack the aluminium trains. Graffiti was one of the reasons why all underground stock is covered in a plastic covering in red white and blue corporate livery, the coating is easier to clean than the bare aluminium

A class 115 DMU from Marylebone to Aylesbury calls at Chalfont and Latimer in November 1975. These trains were introduced on the lines out of Marylebone in the late 1950s and before the line was cut back to Aylesbury would travel as far as Leicester and Nottingham. This cannot have been a very pleasant way to travel as apart from one carriage, which had a toilet shared between 1st and 2nd class, no other carriage had a corridor, instead there were small saloons with 6 seater seats at each end. In the latter years of their service, many journeys to and from Marylebone were made in coaches with no heating or no lights - quite an experience going through the tunnels outside Marylebone!

An A60 stock train waiting at Chalfont to form the Chesham shuttle service in December 1975. This was before the introduction of one man operation, so there would have been a guard and driver on this four coach train and there were no mirrors or TV screens on the platforms to help the driver see if it was clear to close the doors. The sand on the track was designed to slow the train before it hit the buffers should it fail to stop, the power rails end before the sand.
